Dallas, TX - On the Road Garage is proud to participate in the 2026 Teacher Externship Program, welcoming a Career and Technical Education (CTE) automotive teacher from Richardson Independent School District for a hands-on industry learning experience focused on advanced vehicle technology and workforce development.

The Teacher Externship Program, coordinated through Workforce Solutions North Texas, connects educators with regional employers to strengthen classroom-to-career pathways and align instruction with real-world workforce needs. The program provides educators with direct exposure to high-demand industries, helping teachers bring current industry knowledge, technical skills, and career awareness back into their classrooms.

During the externship, the Richardson ISD educator will work alongside the On the Road Garage team to gain firsthand insight into today’s rapidly evolving automotive industry, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), diagnostics, emerging vehicle technologies, safety procedures, and workforce expectations within modern repair and mobility careers. The experience will also expose the educator to industry-recognized certifications, career pathways, and the growing demand for skilled technicians in advanced automotive and transportation sectors.

“At On the Road Garage, we believe workforce development starts long before a student enters the workforce,” said Katie Harris, Founder of Champion Impact Capital and On the Road Garage. “By partnering directly with educators, we can help bridge the gap between classroom instruction and the skills students need to succeed in high-growth automotive and mobility careers.”

The externship reflects a growing regional effort to strengthen collaboration between education and industry partners across North Texas. Teacher externships help educators develop more relevant classroom instruction, enhance career-connected learning, and increase student awareness of local career opportunities in high-demand fields. Workforce Solutions North Texas notes that these experiences are designed to help educators “connect classrooms to careers” through hands-on industry engagement.

As part of the experience, the participating educator will develop lesson plans and classroom activities that integrate real-world automotive applications and workforce skills into student learning. These efforts support broader goals of preparing students for careers in transportation, advanced automotive technology, and skilled trades that are increasingly critical to the North Texas economy.

On the Road Garage continues to expand its role as an industry-driven workforce development partner by supporting apprenticeships, career exploration, and employer-connected training opportunities that prepare the next generation of automotive professionals.
